Global African fashion spring/summer 2015 trends

Fashion month started in a full swing in September from far away southern hemisphere of Cape Town and ended on a very high note for us down here at the edge of the Atlantic in Lagos, between which were London, Paris and New York. With every new season are new trends that are birthed, others are re-visited, while the most notorious stick around for as long as we keep wanting them – one of the most notable trend in Lagos for instance was the major influence of Aso-Oke the traditionally sourced and produced Nigerian fabric that without a doubt is here to.

1. Cape Town Fashion Week 2015
Whether apples, pineapples or squares – fruity and geometric prints were a force to be reckoned with at Shana Morland and Marianne Fassler catwalks.

2. New York Fashion Week 2015

Mimi Plange, BCBG Max Azria and Edun all went for sporty luxe as their models were dressed in Sport inspired outfits.

3. London Fashion Week 2015

PPQ and Duro Olowu  both put their own unique spin on this classic trend that we predict will define work wear next season.

4, Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2015

Aso-oke dominated the catwalk- There was a  tsunami – like renaissance of Nigeria’s foremost traditionally sourced and produced aso-oke fabric in Lagos as designers such as Ré, Nkwo, IAmIsigo, Kenneth Ike’s collections were all greatly  influenced by this trend.

From Bridget Awosika’s big petals to Akpos okudu’s delicate appliqué work on mesh was clearly reinforced the place of mesh come next season.
There’s no denying this season has up’d the stylish trends, and we are looking forward to seeing them all interpreted.
